Don't Bacall Me Names

I'm just going to add a little color commentary to what drudge is posting about Lauren Bacall slamming Cruise. Hey, Cruise is an idiot, and they even have a name for acting like him: "Doing the Cruise." A fad dead before it started, but hasn't old Betty Bacall been beating up on a few people lately? She's spiked Jude Law, and Cruise's Ex, Nicole Kidman, as amateurs, and she has more to add. Bacall would like to point out that nobody today is as good as Jimmy Stewart or Humphrey Bogart (her late Husband), which is a valid point, and she said that it is "unacceptable to use your private life to sell anything commercially." Far be it from me to suggest that the love affair that sprung up between the youthful Bacall and the much older Bogart had anything to do with the successes of the many movies and radio appearances that followed in which they invariably played cat-and-mouse love interests to each other. But as much as Kidman and Cruise and others deserve to be knocked down off their high horses, I'm not sure I want my elegant, legendary film star to be the one to do it. Perhaps a new turn of phrase might appear if this continues: "Being a Total Bacall."
